About

Hello!

I’m Emmilie Whitlock — blogger, journalist, mormon and lover of bacon cheeseburgers.

I returned home from the Montana Billings Mission in July of 2011. Greatest thing of my life.

I feel like I’m one of those obnoxious people that is always bringing up her mission. Sorry guys, I just loved it with all of my soul. So I figured it would be good to channel all that love into something more productive than inciting annoyance wherever I go. And thus the blog was born.

So if you’re getting ready for your mission, I’m slightly jealous, but slightly more excited to be able to share what little knowledge I have as you embark on the greatest experience of your life.

Feel free to contact me any time. I’d love to chat with you.

  1. Hi! 🙂 I’m a member, too! I’m glad I found this blog… Sometimes, I think nobody can understand why I’m different- because people usually don’t have the same religious believes… It’s nice reading your posts.
    Greetings from Costa Rica. 🙂

    • Thanks for reading, Sandra! I’m so glad you find it helpful. And if you ever are feeling alone, remember there are over 14 million others who believe what you believe. #strengthinnumbers

You are great. Like a lot.

  2. I am leaving for my mission June 12th for billings montana as well, I am so excited, any tips on the culture, the people, and preparing for the freezing weather?

    • LOVE EVERY MINUTE!! I wish I could go back. It’s the greatest place. But for real. Pack some wool socks. It’s freezing. Just decide before hand to love every thing about your mission. It will change everything.

  3. Great blog! And I’m sure your husband doesn’t mind being mentioned behind bacon cheeseburgers, diet coke, and the gospel. He’s in good company with those other three things. Keep writing!
ps… my in-laws live in Billings. Monad Ward. Maybe you met them. Or maybe not. The Andersens. Their daughter is one of my favorite things in life.

  4. it’s 1:30 am and i can’t stop reading this blog. you’d think i would be asleep by now – you know preparing for the life of a missionary (that begins in 18 days now!) but alas i’m still up and reading using google to find every sister missionary tip out there.

  5. hey….you served in billings, and I noticed you have a name tag in one of the photos of a sister randall, in portugese. She was my MTC companion and we served in brasil together!! small world. Were you two comps? you aren’t the only who can’t seem to stop talking mission. I’m just glad my husband likes to talk it too. 🙂 same lingo.

    • Yes! Sister Randall was my companion in Billings while she was waiting for her visa. I love love love her! And isn’t it great to understand the jargon with your spouse? Love it!
